Naughty Soaps
On the top shelf you'll find "Savonnettes à Vilains", scented soaps made by master soap-makers to whom we give our fragrances so that they can incorporate them into soap. We believe that everyone has their own trade, and hot or cold saponification is certainly a trade in its own right, so we might as well entrust it to professionals in the trade!
Just like the names "Vilaines" and "Vilains" we gave to our "Pâtes à Thé" and "Thés Olfactifs & Spéciaux" respectively, we chose to call this kind of brick soap "Savonnette à Vilain" because we wanted to make another nod to History with a capital "H".
In fact, under the Ancien Régime, a "Savonnette à Vilain" was the charge, or sum of money, that a commoner had to pay to obtain a title of nobility. So if you buy our scented soaps and use them to wash yourself, you'll certainly become noble ;-)
Opposite, a representation of a villain from Tony Ferri's article (L'Eloge du Vilain, ici-et-ailleurs.org/voyons-ou-la-philo-mene/article/eloge-du-vilain)
Look for QR-Code 7, it's on the same "Soaps" poster.
